Welcome to Kennel Talata - with a passion for sighthounds!

Welcome to a site mainly about Italian greyhound, but also Saluki, Chart Polski and Galgo Español. These fantastic breeds and its history have fascinated me for many years now. Their elegance and beauty together with their personality gives me a happy and active life. My kennel name is out of the beautiful saluki female Sedeki Talata.

- In the year of 1978 I met a Saluki for the first time, I fell in love there and then! In that moment I just knew that I would live with these fantastic animals for the rest of my life.

Some years went by, but finally in 1983 I got my first saluki. In the years to come, a smooth saluki moved in, three whippets and also two sloughi's from Germany and Holland. These sloughi's was the first 'typical breeds' in Norway.

In the end of the 1980s, my love for italian greyhounds started. They are small, charming and very fascinating little dogs with a mind of their own! So I decided to breed on these loveable creatures. I started in october 1989 when INT NORD Uch NORDV -87 Seawards Sapphire Blue moved in. He was born in England in 1984 and is behind many of the IGs in Norway and Sweden.

My first IG had to have a girlfriend - Sørås-Siden's Damigella D'onore came in 1990. She was a black, solid lady and left me many quality IGs. In her first litter we had Norways Top Winning IG of 1995 - N S Uch Talata Antonia la Felicia Pia. In the next litter came N S Uch Talata Bellino Blui. He became Norway's Top Winning IG in 1998, and in 1997 N Uch Talata Diva came second best. These IGs are from the litters before the french IGs came to Norway.

In the year of 2001 N S Uch Talata My Melody became Norways Top winning IG - this made me very proud of course! In 2005 another little lady had great success, N S Uch Talata Bianca became Top Winning IG in Norway.

Today I breed IGs after Sørås-Sidens Damigella D'Onore. These bloodlines together with french IGs has increased the exteriour quality of my breeding and has given healthy dogs with good temper who barks little. These are, in my opinion, important improvements of the french influence.

I was very fortunate to take over Merete Peersen, Kennel Dunrobins Italian Greyhounds in the summer of 1998. This gave me the opportunity to work further on my breed which I am very happy and grateful for. Thank you Merethe!

In september 2002 I welcomed Evy Fredhjem as co-owner in Kennel Talata. In 2004 she chose to start her own breeding with her own kennel name. We wish her all the best with her future breeding plans!

In the autumn of 2003 we all moved to the big woods of Finnskogen, but not far from a smaller town called Kongsvinger. Here I have been able to give my dogs big spacious areas to live in, with bright airy "dog"-houses in beautiful surroundings, nice and warm in the winter-time. I have my very own forest now! We enjoy daily walks at our own property, which I must say I appreciate immensely.

Not far from the house, there is a small path through the woods, leading to a beautiful small lake with water-lilys. By the lake I have put a bench where I can sit and ponder, while the dogs run back and forth - we all just love this place! Here they have their freedom to explore the woods, with Mama close by.

Life is good to us here.

I wish you very welcome to come and visit!

With best regards, Ragnhild Lysaker
